Prevent Yeast Infections and Avoid Discomfort
A yeast infection is a fungal infection that may range in severity from superficial to potentially life-threatening. Although they are not as common as colds or the flu, it still affects a significant number of people.
There are various precautions that can prevent yeast infections. First, since yeast multiplies in warm, moist environments, avoid wearing wet bathing suits or tight-fitting wet clothes for long periods of time. Second, good personal hygiene goes a long way in prevention. Sexual activity can play a part as well; wearing a condom during sexual intercourse can prevent the transmission of STDs and may also help prevent yeast infections. Finally, cut back on carbohydrates, sugar and fermented foods. Diabetics are at greater risks of yeast infection if they do not keep their sugar levels in check.
By understanding of the cause of a yeast infection and finding out how to prevent one, it is possible to reduce the number of yeast infections.
