Information on yeast infections graphicSo what are yeast infections? An infection is caused by a fungus that grows naturally on your skin.

It is a type of microscopic yeast called Candida which enters the body and causes an infection when the conditions are right for it to thrive.

Normally the levels of yeast are kept in check by our body’s natural defences but once in a while, when our body is out of balance, yeast can take hold and start an infection.

The most common place for this to occur is in the vaginal area, which incidentally is the most searched on information on yeast infections and the type that you hear about most often.

However, other places for Candida yeast to thrive include the mouth, the diaper area for infants and the skin when there is a cut or sore that allows the yeast to enter the body.

It can also take place in the areas of the body that are characteristically moist, like the armpits, or under your nails as a nail bed infection. Most of these types of infections are easy to treat and rarely dangerous.

But there are some types of yeast infections that can invade the entire body, and these infections can become very dangerous, and even life-threatening, rather quickly.

What Are Yeast Infections Typical Symptoms?

The classic vaginal yeast infection symptoms will include burning, itching, and a discharge with a foul-smelling odor.

Many of these types of infections can be treated effectively using over the counter medications or natural home remedies.

An oral yeast infection, also known as thrush, will appear as white patches in the mouth that may look like milk curds but will not wipe away easily.

A common diaper rash can also become a yeast infection, and the telltale signs include a rash that does not clear up easily with ointment and exposure to the air.

As with all medical issues, if you are concerned with a problem you think you might have then you should always consult your doctor.

Information On Yeast Infections Remedies

You will find that treatments for yeast infections will vary and it depends upon the location and severity of each one.

A lot of yeast infections can be cleared up with over the counter medications like creams.

However, if you are finding that these do not work for you, or worse still that the infections re-occur, then you should have a look at Sarah Summer's book that not only gives a lot more information on yeast infections but details how Sarah has freed herself from the tyranny of constant re-occurring infections.
