What A Yeast Infection Looks Like
What a yeast infection looks like depends whereabouts on the body it is located.
If the yeast infection is sited on areas with skin folds like our armpits, areas at the backs of our knees and elbows, under breasts, under the ears and groin area then the yeast infection will appear as a swollen patch of red skin.
The whole area can be very itchy and painful at the same time.
Fortunately most yeast infections are easily treated by an application of a skin cream or lotion direct to the affected area.
A yeast infection starts when the population of yeast in our skin grows more than there normally is.
In the case of a vaginal infection, what a yeast infection looks like is a red area which may swell a bit particularly on the labia.
Usually there will be a whitish discharge which is usually described as having the consistency of cottage cheese.
If the infection occurs in the oral cavity, a yeast infection looks like a whitish patch of milk curd on top a red patch of skin. Please do not try to take off or wipe off the whitish areas as these will bleed.
In the webs between the fingers and toes, a yeast infection looks like a dry patch of red skin that is very itchy. It is much like the others skin infections of our body. This is usually caused by sweaty hands and feet. The foot part is compounded by wearing socks that do not allow proper air circulation.
Finally babies and young children can also suffer from yeast infections because they are wearing damp diapers close to the skin.
The diaper restricts the free flow of air around the baby’s bottom and results in a warm, moist area in which yeast can thrive.
On a child a yeast infection looks like an area of flat red rashes that will cause the production of pus. The easy way to avoid this is to be rigidly strict in changing the diaper on a frequent basis.
If you are finding that the usual creams and medicines from your doctor are not leaving you free of yeast infections, then why not take the time to have a look at an excellent little book by Sarah Summer where she details her tried and tested methods for curing and freeing you of yeast infections forever.
